Biography of Saxon White Kessinger

I don't know where to start. You already have all my IWL awards. Gem State Writers' Guild has given me "Merit in Writing" 1999, and "Writer of the Year" in 1992 and in 2002. Several magazines have given me First Place for several different poetry contests.

The first poem I ever had published was "Desert Tracks" published in Desert Magazine in February 1955, (now out of print) and have been actively publishing poetry ever since. I also have had articles published in various magazines and newspapers throughout the years. Some years ago now, I spent part of one summer in Spain, France, and Amsterdam. It was a wonderful experience, and I sent articles back to The Idaho Stateman at the time.

I recently have been told that my old poem "Indispensable Man" is running wild on the internet under different titles and different authors. I call them "The Liar's Club". I wrote that poem in 1959. I did not think it was so great, so did not bother to publish it until 1966 when The Nutmegger Poetry Club published it in their quarterly. I have since published it in seven different places throughout the years, as recently as Oct-Nov. 2003. I do not get on the internet because I have no flat rate server here, and the long distance phone runs into more than I can handle. Therefore, I have had the help of my son in Massachusetts and my (step)daughter in Boise to locate, copy, an send to me the information on all the plagiarism. With their help, we have now corrected many of them, with excellent help also of those whose websites they appear on. I am grateful to those who have helped to clear this up for me.

While attending a meeting of the Idaho Press Women in Boise years ago, a speaker from U.of I. recited that poem to us. I asked him where he got it, but he "couldn't remember". I also found it in two of our Forest Service papers (I worked for the F.S. for 26 years). When I told them it was mine, they corrected it and gave me a very nice write-up about my poetry. I also found it in two of our own church papers, and in Ann Landers. I wrote to Ann, and she completely ignored it and did not answer!. Great gal, huh?
