Published Writers Page

We have both published and unpublished writers in our group. Our published writers consist of poets, freelance writers and authors of books. Some of our members have won prestigious awards. Read on…

Mary Smith aka Maryn Langer has published many Christian Romance novels and more recently, is working on a Contemporary Women's Fiction. Her latest novella is one of four stories for sale in the hardback, Christmas on the Prairie. During Christmas it has been available at Christian bookstores and Wal-Mart among other places. Mary teaches writing classes for North Idaho College Workforce Training Center and presents how-to writing workshops at the drop of a hat. She is the latest Idaho Writer's League Lifetime Achievement Service Award recipient.

Jim Payne is the author of The American Threat, Labor and Politics in Peru, Patterns of Conflict in Columbia, Why Nations Arm, The Agony of Public Education, The Culture of Spending are some and the latest, History of Force. He's also an avid freelance writer and currently working on a non-fiction book about his kayaking experiences on the American waterways.

Sherry Ramsey is a freelance writer published in 2008 Writer's Market, North Idaho Lifestyle Magazine, Sandpoint Magazine, Idaho Magazine, The River Journal, Priest River Times, Idaho Spokesman-Review and has a humor column in the Idaho Spokesman-Review called North Idaho Way. She is currently working on getting her two children's novels published, The Secret of Baker's Woods, which took first place in the 2005 Idaho Writer's League Novel Contest and Hidden Valley of the Wolf People which took 2nd place in the 2006 IWL Novel Contest.

Cassandra Cridland is a freelance writer published in The River Journal, Idaho Spokesman-Review, and Sandpoint Daily Bee. She's also written a western romance novel that she'd like to see published one day.

Sandra Ricker Smith joined the IWL by starting the Sandpoint Chapter with two writing friends in 1990. She has a short story published in the children's anthology Kaleidoscope, A Collection of Tantalizing Tales. She is also a member of the Coeur d'Alene Chapter, and has been published in newspapers, magazines, advertorials for the Hagadon Press, newsletters and has had two novellas published in anthologies written by The Grande Dames. Her latest, The Trouble With Romance, is out now, and can be purchased at Vanderford's. Sandy has also won the coveted Lifetime Achievement Service Award from the IWL.

Dianna Winget is a freelance writer published in Grit, Wee Ones, U*S* Kids, Child Life, Northwest Living, Idaho Spokesman-Review and Idaho Magazine. Her middle grade children's novel, Fly a Little Higher, Piper Lee, took first place in the IWL State Novel Contest in 2004. She is currently working on another novel dealing with the issue of illegal immigration.

Marylyn Cork has been published many times in newspapers, journals, anthologies and magazines. She recently co-authored the book, Priest River and Priest Lake Memories, which can be purchased at Wal-mart among other places. Her published works have been both fiction and non-fiction, adult and children articles and short stories. She's also had poetry published and is deep into cataloging the history of the Priest River area.

Joanna Fuchs wrote a newspaper column, national newsletter and has been published in other papers and presses. She has also written website content for several companies. More recently, she's been writing greeting card poems for her website, www.poemsource.com. One of her poems has been commissioned by the Bradford Collection for use on a porcelain jewelry box. She is currently writing a non-fiction book on improving relationships.

Charles Y. Glock has published a number of academic books and articles, wrote a monthly newsletter for a coalition of Bonner County Health & Welfare. He's self-published two short stories, and his autobiography, A Life Fully Lived. Charlie has just finished a novel, Tenure for Schumacher, and is working on his proposal.

Kathryn Hamshar been published in the Priest River Times, North Dakota Farmer and other newspapers. She has self-published her autobiography, Letters from Mamma, and a set of four poetry books, Signs of Spring, Talking Trees and other Poems, Verses From an Autumn Garden, Winter Solstice, and Songs for all Seasons. She's also had her poetry published in the Priest River Times, Spokesman-Review, and Willard Scott's Anthology of American Poetry. Isabel Huff has been published in the Bonners Ferry Herald, a fiber arts newsletter, and had a cowboy poem published. She has finished her novel, Say Goodbye to Gert, but it hasn't been published yet.

Harvey Pine has been published many times with both non-fiction articles and short stories in newspapers, journals, newsletters and magazines. He self-published his book, Landa, and wrote a play, Frankie's Thursday Night, which is on tape.

Pam Webb has been published in many national children's and adult magazines, writing magazines, anthologies, journals, and newsletters. She writes mainly for children, and is in the process of dragging out old writings she's set aside to revamp. Currently, Pam is working on her kids book of cow jokes and trivia, Udder Stuff and Nonsense.
