The Idaho Falls Chapter was started in 1940 or 1941—not long after the state organization came into effect. It has been going strong ever since. Our monthly meetings generally consists of official business, critique time and we usually try to fit in a writing related lesson of some type. The group has award winning poets, essayists, short story and novel writers, and can tackle critiques on many genres, fiction as well as nonfiction.
We are glad to welcome new members and have moved to a larger meeting room to accommodate our growing membership. We meet at the Bonneville County Extension Office at 2925 Rollendet in Idaho Falls (near the zoo). Meeting times are 1st and 3rd Monday at 1:00. (We do not have day meetings in the summer.) We offer an alternative night meeting every Wednesday. Call 523-4286 for more information on those meetings.
The group performs several community-based projects each year. We have held a juvenile writers’ contest the last several years and hold workshops at area schools.
