Workshop: POINT OF VIEW STANDING IN YOUR CHARACTER'S BOOTS, WINGTIPS, OR NIKES
Myrna is the author of 19 category romance books for Berkley and Silhouette. She has been a finalist for the prestigious RITA award from Romance Writers of America three times and is a finalist for Series Storyteller of the Year Award from Romantic Times magazine for 2001. She speaks at national conferences. She lives in Spokane with her husband of 27 years and two college-age daughters. Member RWA.
Workshop #1: BUILDING A STORY WORLD: Whether you need to develop alien planets and species or just create a convincing office suite, spend some time choosing atmosphere as well as furnishings.
Workshop #2: USING LANDSCAPE AS CHARACTER: When waxing poetic is too much, when the characters walk through cardboard isn't enough, share insights and writing exercises to develop the setting of your book into a living entity that shapes both character and plot. IRENE is the author of eleven fantasy books. She has written The Glass Dragon, The Perfect Princess, The Loneliest Magician among others, and to be released, The Guardian of the Vision.

Interactive workshop: The Hook Read first page of manuscript and synopsis and find out if it grabs the agent's interest and why and why not. Fiction/nonfiction work accepted.
Linda worked in the adult trade division of Random House and as a high school English teacher before opening the Linda Tolls Literary Agency in Bend, Oregon. She represents adult commercial and literary nonfiction and fiction. She does not represent the fiction genres of action/adventure, science fiction, fantasy and horror.

Dennis Foley didn't start his writing career until age 38 in Hollywood. There he worked as a writer and producer for over fifteen years. He has written for major motion picture studios, network television and has worn a wide variety of hats including screenwriter, producer, freelance, staff writer, production consultant, technical advisor or story consultant on a wide variety of television shows, episodic series and motion pictures. His television work includes serving as staff writer and freelancer for shows such as Tour of Duty, Werewolf, MacGyver and Airwolf. His novels include Long Range Patrol, Night Work and Take Back the Night. He has also authored Special Men, a non-fiction book. He is a frequent guest speaker at writers' conferences and teaches novel writing at the UCLA Writer's Program. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America and the Authors Guild.
JONATHAN JOHNSON
Poet/fiction writer. Workshops: WRITING YOUR WAY HOME A reading and question and answer workshop
Jonathan Johnson teaches creative writing at Eastern Washington University in the Masters Fine Arts Program. His poems, essays, and stories have been published in many national journals and in the antholgy "Best American Poetry 1996." His book of poetry, "Mastodon," was published by Carnegie Mellon University Press in 2000. He has conducted workshops at the University of Idaho Clark Fork campus, and numerous writers' conferences in Idaho and Montana and teaches at Interlochen.
JEANNE SAVERY
Workshop: THE BEGINNING NOVELIST - limit 12 All genres welcome.
Find out what it takes to write a novel. Requirements: Send first 3 pages, double spaced pages of your novel and 1 paragraph, single spaced synopsis (like the blurb on the back of a book) before August 20th to: Idaho Writers' League PO Box 492, Kootenai, Id 83840. This is on a first come first served basis.
By early 2002 Jeanne Savery will have published twenty full length Regency novels and a number of Regency novellas. She was a finalist in the Golden Heart with her second book and it was published under the title The Last Of The Winter Roses. She was just nominated for the best Regency of the year. Member RWA.
JOAN OVERFIELD
Workshop #1: CHARACTERIZATION Find out the tricks to make the readers love and hate your characters.
Workshop #2: SYNOPSIS How to write a synopsis the agent or editor can't resist.
Joan Overfield has been a published author since 1987 when her manuscript The Prodigal Spinster won the Golden Heart Award for Best Regency by an unpublished author. Since then she has sold 23 Regency, Historical and Time Travel romances as Joan Overfield and Carolyn Madison. She is currently working on her first historical Gothic, The Shadowing which will be published by Leisure in November 2001 as part of their Heartglow line. Her next Regency as Carolyn Madison, The Sinister Spinster will be out in the fall of 2001. Member RWA.

Patti is an excellent speaker, very motivational on any subject she speaks on. Hollywood The Hard Way is Patti's first book. It has also been optioned as a movie. Since launching her writing career in 1994, Dickinson has completed two novels which have yet to be published. She was honored as Writer ofthe Year for 2000-2001 by the Idaho Writer's League.
MARY BUCKHAM
Workshop: TARGET YOUR MARKET Why do some writers make a living writing articles while others accept a hit or miss approach to publication? What do editors look for in accepting or rejecting an article? How can you work smarter, not harder, in the world of freelance writing? The answers to these and similar questions will be addressed in this workshop focused on understanding , and targeting your article writing. Mary writes both non-fiction and fiction on a full time basis. As a freelance writer, writing instructor, former magazine editor and current contributing editor, Mary writes, and sells, on an average 3 to 10 articles a month as an aside to her other writing. Learn from someone who has 'been-there; done that' and makes a decent income from knowing how to target her article writing.
SANDY YOKELL-PARKER and MONA VANEK
Workshop: BRIDGING THE CENTURIES THROUGH WRITING FAMILY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY.
This will be an informal discussion of writing family history and how to find it. Bring your questions and any portions of family history you are working on to share. Sandy is a certified genealogist and will touch on the subject of genealogy. Mona will discuss writing family history. She is a well known Montana historian from Noxon, Montana.
