Brian Cornett's short story collection Tales from the Brass Rail came out in 2005. Reviewer Patti Sherlock wrote: “ … with a keen eye for the absurd and an economy of words, Cornett gives an insider's view of 'good ol' boys' in small town America.” (Illustrated by Sean Metz).
Eunice Ferguson's (E.D. Wald's) third book featuring her comedic heroine Eulalia Eulene Swett, 1. For the Money 2. For the Show, appeared in 2007; and finds Eulalia helping local law enforcement solve a robbery-while she coordinates a fashion show. Poetry and Short Stories, Lynn Mickelsen's first chapbook, appeared in spring, 2010, with stories and poems of faith and Idaho farm life. Lynn also provides a glossary, possibly found nowhere else, of certain rural creatures known as Helmuts, Leebs, Swifers, Slinkies, and Zorros. Illustrated with Lynn's color photographs and paintings.
Scribbling My Way Back from Nothing is Amy McClellan's second poetry chapbook, and was cited in her 2008 IWL Award as “Poet of the Year.” Amy writes of this collection: “I have found … poetry … an outlet for the expression of my feelings, and that 'scribbling' has certainly played a part in my coming back from the nothing that took over my life for many years after (an) injury.” The collection also serves as an insightful guide to a variety of poetic forms and creative practices.
Roger Nielsen's Writing Content: Mastering Magazine and Online Writing was published in 2009, and provides a practical, easy-to-read reference guide to writing saleable magazine articles and clear, concise, and credible website content. Connie Otteson's latest book is Mountains of Majesty: The Story of Darby Girls' Camp. Published in 2010, it commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of the camp's founding. Connie documents several accounts of the famous tragedy of August 1, 1951, when lightning struck a group of hikers on a mountain high above the camp and five lives were lost. But her book is foremost a celebration of life, telling camper stories of the next sixty years, including descriptions of famous hiking trails, memorable characters, songs, pranks, even recipes; and concludes with the story of the “Darby Miracle” makeover in 2010. Includes 150 current and historic photographs integrated with the text. Connie (IWL Writer of the Year in both 2006 and 2009) is also author of Unsung Heroes and Settlers of Bonneville County, Idaho (2005); a nationally recognized award-winning novel, Laura's Lullaby (2008); and a young adult historical novel, George Brunt-Young Pioneer of Eagle Rock (2009), which is used as a supplemental history reader for Bonneville County public school students.
