The Coeur d'Alene Chapter meets twice each month.
A daytime meeting is held every 2nd Wednesday at the Jewett House located at 1501 E Lakeshore Dr, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814. To view a map of the location click here. Meeting times are 9:00AM to Noon. Listen to guest speakers each month, catch up on the events being sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Chapter and bring your current work for our readings.
An evening meeting is held every 3rd Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30. Our new meeting place is now the Lutheran Church of the Master - ECA at 4800 N. Ramsey Rd. (corner of Ramsey and Kathleen.) To view a map of the location click here. Learn about what is happening in the Coeur d'Alene Chapter and bring your current work for our readings. Please note that there is no Thursday meeting in December. We would encourage all who can to attend our Christmas party at our Wednesday meeting.

T. Dawn Richard and Frank Zafiro They will discuss the secrets of being a writer, the nuances of the mystery genre and how to write a successful mystery novel. Dawn is the author of the May List Mystery series and has been writing full time for ten years. Frank is a former military intelligence officer and current police lieutenant. He writes the River City series of novels and has many stories in anthologies and magazines both print and online.

Bitterroot Mountain LLC When Pamela Aiden couldn't come due to illness, four IWL members who are part of Bitterroot Mountain LLC gave a panel discussion about alternatives to conventional publishing and self-publishing. With traditional publishing and self-publishing the author does most of the work, especially the editing and promoting of their books. Bitterroot Mountain is no different other than books make it to the stores right away and not the three years with traditional publishing. There is also access to many promotional options not available to the self-publisher.

Elizabeth encourages anyone planning to soon market their manuscripts, or who will attend the conference, to send her up to 5 pages in advance (and a paragraph to one page of synopsis if possible for books) that she can edit ahead of time and to over how to "makeover" in that one-on-one. Deadline is on or before August 10, 2008. No exceptions, since Elizabeth will be on the road after that date.

Nikki Arana Seven Keys to a Successful Novel. Nikki came to the IWL as an unpublished writer and learned the skills to become a published author. She currently has four published novels, is working on her fifth, has received many national awards for her books, and has sold the film rights to her first novel "The Winds of Sonoma."
